摘要：Theory of vertex algebras is  an axiomatic mathematical theory related to infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, Lie superalgebras and their representation theory.  Vertex algebras are also related to conformal field theory in physics.The purpose of this lecture is to give a basic introduction to the theory of vertex algebras and to present some current ideas and constructions in this area. Particular emphasis will be placed on  vertex algebras  associated with affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras and on vertex algebras that appear in physical theories. We shall also discuss some applications of vertex algebras to the representation theory.
